Most of the time my kids mocktails are cold drinks, but on days like today when it’s 21 degrees out I just have to pull out this cheery White Chocolate mocktail.  I love how festive it is, but it can also just be a nice winter drink too by changing the color of the sprinkles. Maybe even white for a snowy day.  It’s the perfect drink for when you are doing your last minute online shopping.

It’s like a hot chocolate, only it’s made with melted white chocolate instead of instant cocoa powder.  The best part about white chocolate as opposed to milk chocolate is there’s no caffeine.  Yes, loads of sugar, but since there’s no caffeine, I’m happy to share this drink with my toddler. At least I’ll share on special occasions.

I love a flexible recipe and this one really is.  You can add a shot of espresso to make it a latte.  You can add a shot of Irish cream or Kahlua to make it an adult friendly cocktail.  Or mix up the chocolate morsels, I’m thinking half white chocolate, half dark chocolate. Yum!

Hot White Chocolate Mocktail

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. In a small microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate wafers for 30 seconds in the microwave.  Or until melted.
  2. While the chocolate is melting, steam the milk.  I use our Nespresso Creatista.  Alternatively, you could also warm the milk on the stove and then froth.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate into your glass of choice.
  4. Immediately pour the steamed milk into the glass over the chocolate.
  5. Stir well so the white chocolate dissolves well into the steamed milk.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Top with whipped cream and your choice of sprinkles.

Cheers!
